Does the trunk release button on your Ford Focus SE hatchback 2014 actually open the trunk?
For my car, the button on the key fob where you double press to open the trunk unlatches the trunk, but doesn't actually cause it to open/lift up. I'm wondering if that is the same for everyone else tha has this car.
As you said, it is simply a "release" button. It does not actually open/lift the trunk lid.
Not familiar with your model, but on other models:
The strut lifts are weak. Inside those struts is a spring. Because your trunk / hatch is closed 99% of the time, the spring is compressed 99% of the time and weakens the spring. You could look on NAPAs web site to get an idea of part replacement cost.
- Where is the trunk safety release on a Ford Tempo? Mine doesn't have the release buttons in the glovebox and when I bought it the trunk wouldn't open. I got the back seat out but there's so much garbage and so little room I'm trying not to sift through all of it to find the safety release, does anyone know exactly where it's located?
- What would cause the door locks and the trunk release to both stop working? 2002 Ford Crown Vic The other day the alarm suddenly went off, the door locks were going up and down and the trunk opened. I finally disconnected the battery for a while. After that everything was fine, except the door lock and trunk release mechanisms won't work. I have tried replacing several fuses and a circuit breaker (20 amp, CB) but they still won't work. Any ideas?
- Can't open trunk 95 ford Taurus lx? Is there any way I can access the trunk without having the key? My friend bought it from someone he knew and lost the key. The seats don't flip down and I don't believe there's a trunk release inside the car.

I have a 2001 ford mondeo estate and I can't get the boot to open from the dash button or the boot handle but I can from the key fob by double pressing it. I have tried removing the dash burron and reconnecting it with no success this seems to be a common problem on this car yet nobody seems to know the cause
