Does a 2007 ford focus se with 2.0L have a timing belt or chain?
Does a 2007 ford focus se with 2.0L have a timing belt or chain?
Go to rockauto.com and see if a timing belt is listed for that car. If not, it is probably a chain. Gear timing went out with 1980's Subarus.
Open your hood and look at the cover behind the drive belt.
If it's plastic you have a timing belt.
If it's metal you have a timing chain.
Now you know how to tell on every motor you look at.
Yes, it does.
The 2.0L Duratec used in US spec 2007 Focus has a timing chain. First gen Foci could have a 2.0L Zetec that did have a timing belt, but 2.0L Duratec has a chain. The 2.0L Duratec was the only engine available for 2007.
It has a chain. The Ford Duratec of that era is actually the Mazda L engine. See the source. It describes the engine: "The L-engine uses a chain-driven DOHC, 16-valve valvetrain… "
Timing chain
Usually between 60k and 120k, so average inspect at 60k intervals and replace if needed, but in my opinion if its chain and not a belt let it alone unless absolutely necessary.
- How much does it cost to get timing chain done? Recently we bought a car 08 ford crown victoria at a car auction. It had a blown head gasket and we had a friend fix it for us, he put it all together and now car won't start. He thinks he did the timing chain wrong. Was wondering how much it would cost to take it to an actual mechanic to redo the timing chain. Also he thinks one of the heads are bad so how much would that cost as well?
- Is 2600 dollars a fair price in ford for a broken rear timing chain cassette on a 2006 explorer? I took my explorer to ford and they diagnosed that the noice I been asking about is coming from a the rear timing chain cassette. So they have to pull the motor out and service the broken cassette. My problem is I'm getting charged 600 bucks for parts and I found in ford parts the timing chain kit is only 255.33 plus tax I know a couple of gaskets need to be put on but I have doubts that is 600 dollars worth in parts
- 2002 ford explorer xlt 4.0 timing chain tensioner? I'm thinking about replacing the timing chain front and right side tensioner it rattle doing cold start then when warm it goes away. I never worked with this type of vehicle and little worry about timing chain moving while I take the tensioner out. Any hint on how to remove this tensioner without going into bigger trouble.
- When to change timing chain and belt? When do you change timing chain and timing belt on a ford expedition V8? My dad has never changed them and I told him that he probably needs to already because it could be dangerous if he keeps driving it like that. The truck has almost 200,000 miles. And he has never had any problems with the engine. I just checked the owners manuel and it says just to inspect it at 120,000 but it never says when to replace it.
