Causes, fix, and cost of low voltage to ecu (engine control unite) 03 ford focus?
What are some causes and solutions to fixing this? Car runs rough. Is it super expensive? Car has 120,000 miles so if rather not throw a bunch of money into it.
Common causes are Weak Grounds and Corrosion in Connectors and burned contacts on Relays. Swap your PCM Power Relay with another with the same number. Check all your Grounds near the PCM. You have 3 grounds for the Engine Plug (left hand) and 1 loose or corroded one will cause problems. But your problem is probably two bad 5 Volt Reference wires in that same plug. If those wires don't put out 5 Volts your car will never run right. Easiest place to check is the TPS, unplug it, turn the key ON and see if 1 wire has 5 volts.
Something is most likely dragging down the ECM regulated 5VDC, the most obvious place to look is at the down stream O2 sensors on the exhaust system where there wires can become melted if they were aftermarket parts replaced and the O2 sensor wires were not properly shielded from the engine catalytic converter heat. You should first off get a "Active Data" type OBD2 scan tool and see what the scan tool is showing on the regulated ECM cavity sensor B+ regulated 5VDC voltages while the engine is running.

- What's causes car to jerk and the check engine light to go on and off? My car was working fine yesterday! It's a 2005 ford explore. I went to turn it on earlier and it started jerking a lot! I let if warm up a bit than the check engine light came on than it went off and on again. It keeps turning on and off! I know I need to change my spark plugs soon! Can it been the spark plugs causing it to jerk and the light to turn on and off?
- What causes problems starting a car and the engine to misfire going over 60 mph? This problem started about two months ago. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. So far no mechanic can figure out the problem. They have replaced all of the spark plugs (numerous times because they keep going bad), an engine coil, the crankshaft position sensor, the battery, did a tune-up, ran a $100 diagnostic test and still the problem occurs. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I forgot that they also did a coolant flush.
- 2005 ford mustang windshield wiper blade malfunction AC unite malfunction I have a 2005 ford mustang both the wiper blade and the AC unite malfunction of from time to time but will driving and a had then both them both turned on on both did not work the at the same moment the turned on. And worked perfectly.
- If a car causes another car to swerve and spin-out, is it considered hit-and-run if they leave the scene? On the way to work this morning, I saw a Ford truck cut off a smaller car and the poor car spun out in the rain and ended up facing the opposite direction. This caused the traffic to stop because it looked like the vehicle wouldn't start. The ford truck most likely knew he did that but kept going, instead of stopping. He didn't hit the car or any cars at all during the time. If he didn't actually hit anything, is it still considered hit and run? Should he have stopped?
