This is likely caused by the system being low on refrigerant. There's a pressure sensor that will cut off the compressor clutch to prevent damage to the compressor
Have the system checked for charge, and leaks, and then have it recharged
Ford admitted that they shipped these cars with parts missing in the AC system. It'l never work until get them replaced. This is what you get for buying such a cheapo car - and a Ford at that!

Hi so what else do you expect from a 13 years old car. Only really now you have to make a decision to either repair the clutch which is going to be about 1000 dollars as for the air con it might not be a economic repair.

- Air conditioning won't work unless driving? I have a 2000 Ford Taurus. The air conditioning only works when I'm driving reasonably fast. I thought it was the blower motor, so I changed that but the air still does not work right. Any suggestions?
