2002 Ford Focus not starting. Antitheft light blinking?

Accident left my key in last night and it won't start. Anti-theft light is blinking. Checked all fuses and relay and there good. It was working fine before.

No don't disconnect the battery. Your antitheft module is "locked". It happens all the time on my Ford Excursion because of my stupid Remote Starting system. The PATS module can get confused with the key transponder.

1. Put the key in the ignition, turn the key to Run, NOT START.
Watch the light, it will be flashing fast, wait about 45 seconds or so, it will start flashing slow.

2. Turn the key OFF and REMOVE THE KEY.

3. Wait 30 seconds and put the key back in the ignition

4. Turn key to RUN, DO NOT START. Anti-theft light will stay lit SOLID, then turn off. This is just like normal.

5 When anti-theft light turns off, turn the key OFF,
then you can start the car.

Remove the key, try disconnecting the battery ground and then reconnect it after a few minutes. That MAY reset the computer.

Heres what you should try: Disconnect the battery for no less than 30 minutes. Go and get your second key, reconnect the battery, try to start it. You may have a malfunctioning PATS key
