01 ford focus cooling fans won't turn on when idling?
My car runs fine when moving but when i'm idling for longer than a few mins the engine starts to overheat because the cooling fans won't turn on
Check the engine cooling fan resister, see pic below:
The resistor should be about 25K ohms.

Sounds like it could be bad fan or sensor, temperature sending unit is faulty or thermostat is bad. Turn on your A/C on efan is for the engine cooling; the other is for the A/C. The A/C fan should come on even if the other doesn't. If both don't come on, it is likely that the issue is a sensor.
May be a bad heat sensor/sending unit, or relay. If you turn on your A/C, will those fans turn on? If so, its probably a sensor, I would think.
- Why won't my car stay idling? I just put a new fuel pump on my 1976 ford gran torino and it won't idle at all unless I fill the fuel bowl up and when I do that it will idle for a little bit and then when I start it up again it will idle for a little bit less then a little bit less and so on until it won't idle at all?
- Truck fans: What is the most superior make? (Specifically the F-series)? I'm looking to buy a truck that can sport a truck camper. Does any F-series Ford truck hold up? Plus, what would you say about thee F-series in specific? Advantages, drawbacks, etc How do they compare to a Toyota Tacoma, or Tundra.
- Radiator fans staying on all the time? I have a 2007 ford mustang gt. My car does not over heat, but when i turn on the car and it reaches 198F, the cooling fan starts and stays on all the time and it stops only if i turn the key off. It sounds very loud. I changed the coolant myself and the next day it was doing that. I notice that the upper radiator hose is very hot, while the lower radiator hose is cold and not hard. Could it be the thermostat?
- How long does a cooling fan stay on for before kicking back off? I've noticed that my 2005 ford mustang cooling fans stay on for a long period of time but they turn off when i shut off the car why is this happening i really didn't notice it till now
