What would be a good first car?

I still have a year until I get my license but I'm trying to plan ahead of time so when I know, I can get a car and know what I want. First thing, I do not like small 4-Cylinder cars… Here in michigan people drive really fast and the highways are very hilly. With 4-cylinders your foot is ALWAYS planted and it's not enough. I don't really know what would be a good first car… My price range is about $18k at the most. I found a lot of used 2008+ Ford Flex (leather and all that) with around 75k-120k miles for about $14k-17k. Would that be worth it? Tbh I really don't even care if it's a minivan, as long as it has a V6 and isn't a small tiny car, I really don't care. Please don't be rude! Any suggestions?

If you have that much money for a first car, make it a good one. I'd get a 2008 or so mustang with a v8. That car will have plenty of power. If you want something more luxurious then I'd take a jaguar. You can get a good x type or xj for well under your limit. You could even get a v8 in an xj if you really want. Keep in mind insurance and maintenance though. How this helps

Get a nissan maxima or pathfinder or g35. They all share the same strong vq35 motor that can be found in the nissan 350z

Dodge Avenger with the 3.6L V6 or a early 2000's Honda Accord with the 3.0L V6.

A dodge charger V8 HEMI. Amazing power, room, and luxories.
A Ford Police Interceptor. Amazing power, room, and dependability.
A Ford Explorer. Strong engine, lots of room, four wheel drive.
Don't get a honda civic. That four banger will stall going up a hill lol

From one Michigander to another, unless you know what you're doing avoid rear wheel drive cars. Not even the best traction control can save you in our lovely Michigan winters.

Bob and Peter have it nailed pretty well, but for that kind of money you could easily get something as nice as that Flex but with all wheel drive… Seriously, the best investment I've ever made.

Honda Civic, it's great on Gas. Find out what year you like and within your price range and mile range.

  • Would a Ford Puma be a good first car? So I really know nothing about cars, but is the Ford Puma a good car? For instance, with insurance, reliability, driving experience, fuel consumption, ect.
  • I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
