What happens if a driveshaft fails while driving?
My work wants me to drive a Ford Transit that was supposed to have been recalled in 2017 for 5 hours down a highway that is at a high altitude and has no guard rails to the nearest Ford dealership.
Apparently the issue with my vehicle is to do with a a rubber composite 'doughnut' that is between the end of the prop shaft and the rear differential which absorbs vibration and shock from the prop shaft.
If this component failed while I was driving what could happen?
Added (1). The suspect part is a flexible coupling or 'flex disc'

If it failed, you "MAY" notice some vibration( or nothing at all). But if a driveshaft fails while driving you don't go anywhere anymore. Call a tow truck.
If the rear end of the driveshaft fails completely and disconnects from differential, it will simply drag along the ground until you come to a complete stop ( and you will stop as you no longer have power going to the drive wheels ).

Can anyone tell me the top speed a 2014 mustang v6 305 hp will run as a top speed with the limiter removed and the driveshaft replaced. I aware that the rev limiter stops the car at 115mph and its due to the driveshaft snapping at 135mph. I have ordered a new aluminum drive shaft and am awaiting its arrival but I have been wondering what the top speed of the car is with that being replaced. Also my rev limiter has already been removed.
