1997 Ford F-150 A/C and heater won work

So I'm in AZ and at this time the mornings are cold but the afternoons are hot. So when I drive to work I tend to turn on the heater and on my way home I turn on the AC. Well about a week ago my heater was blowing cold air and that same day the AC was blowing hot. It seems like they're blowing the same temp as it is outside. Can someone diagnose this for me?

Sounds like your air conditioner compressor is not working or out of freon. Check the fuses for it to make sure it is working, and then take it by a shop. They will check it for you and let you know, at little to no cost. HVAC can be expensive to repair, so like a medical process, get a second and third opinion.

Multiple issues. Blend door could be broken, coolant is low or needs to be bled, thermostat stuck open, heater core clogged, heater valve not working, vacuum hoses leaking, AC compressor clutch not working, compressor failed, low refrigerant, bad controller etc etc. See a garage to get a correct diagnosis.

Most likely it is a blend door issue which is a common issue on those models and others. Most often it is due to a bad servo but could be other issues in the system. The "blend door" is a part of the HVAC system which mixes or "blends" the airflow through or around the heater core and AC evaporator to the dash vents and that door may be stuck in a middle position which then gives you poor heat and/or poor cold air flow from the vents. The blend door is operated by an electrical servo which in turn is adjusted by the temperature control of the heater controls so it could be a bad servo or bad heater control temp switch, a broken blend door / linkage, etc… A repair shop can diagnose which item is bad and replace as needed or you can try to diagnose/repair it yourself. Various Youtube videos and websites show how. Some companies like Dorman or Heater Treater also offer upgrade kits to replace broken blend door parts which do not require as much labor as a normal process.
