Will different tyre tread depths fail the MOTA?
As the title says, will different tread depths on the tyres on my Ford fiesta cause it to fail its MOT? The tread itself are all legal and in good condition the only thing is one tyre has a different tread type to the other 3, will this cause a fail? I have read different things online, some saying that it will be fine as long as the tread is in good condition but other sources saying its illegal, can anyone clear this up please.
So long as the tread depth is over 1.6mm on all tyres, no problem. Provided you don't mix cross ply and radial tyres on the same axle it's also fine.

- Why do car companies sell in different countries under different names? Why are companies like Chevrolet selling their cars under names like Holden in Australia? I'm not sure if Chevrolet sells in Australia but I do think they do. If they already sell in Australia, what's the point of selling the same thing under Holden? Another example is some Ford cars are sold under Lincoln, and Chevrolet sells the same thing under GMC. Buick and Opel? What's with this?
- What would cause an ignition coil to fail repeatedly on a 1997 Ford Thunderbird? The car has 65,000 miles on it and has received regular tune ups and oil changes but over the past year or so it leaves me stranded every 3 months or so leaving me to have it towed to the nearest mechanic--including the Ford Dealer once. Every time I'm told it was the ignition coil and it is replaced and the car runs fine for several weeks until the next incident.
- What are the signs that a transmission is ready to fail? I have a 1995 Ford Taurus with 193,000 miles and a transmission that has never given me any problems. I keep hearing that it's about 50,000 miles overdue to go. Will I get any clues before the car leaves me stranded somewhere?
