When does my cambelt need changing?
I have a ford fiesta 1.8 tddi on a 2002 reg with 55000 miles when do I need to get my cambelt changed?
Check to see if there's a recall on your vehicle, cam belts should really not stretch at 55k miles normally, they should live a bit more than twice that without problems. Simply the belt either stretched or jumped timing that damaged the belt.
The recommendation is 100k miles but that seems too long for me. Also if it's not been done, 12 years is far too long to leave it, there's a time element to them as well as a mileage one. If you value the car change it now, if it snaps it totally destroys the engine.
Most require it around 90,000 to 100,000.
If it's twelve years old then the mileage is irrelevant. Change it as a matter of urgency and avoid hard acceleration and high speed runs until the work gets done.
- Why did my car start rolling on its own when changing the spark plugs? I got a ford 1999 taurus SE, when I was changing the spark plugs and wireset in the back part of the engine it, I felt it start rolling back. I had it in park, I quickly ran to the drivers side and put the E brake on but I still don't understand why it did that. It drove fine after that and so did the parking brake but wtf?
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
- Can you damage your car engine by changing the oil at every 3,000 miles? The Ford dealer service advisors said that it could destroy the new engine by putting too much clean fluid in it. He advises every 10,000 miles between oil changes. I have a prepaid service plan. 2018 Ford Fusion
- I have a 2004 Ford focus zx3 and I'm wondering the cost of changing it to manual from automatic? I want to start modifying my car but its automatic but I'm not really sure what the price of it is. Or do you think i should just get a new car that has manual transmission?
