What's the best car to get as a first car?

Obviously I won't be getting it any time soon but I'm saving my money up and have been for quite awhile now, I'm 17 in august and that's when I start taking my driving lessons, I quite like the look of the Ford fiesta, like the one in the picture, I love cars that are white for some reason, so what do you all think the best car is to get for your very first car? (Obviously not a brand new one because there's no point)What s the best car to get as a first car

You are correct, a brand new one is just a waste as drivers aged 17 - 20 are likely to crash seven times more than an average male of a higher age and seventeen times more likely between 2am and 5am. And also one in 5 new drivers crash within six months of starting to drive so a new car is not an option. As you are 17 this summer like me i suggest you get a car that is also cheaper to insure, according to my research the cheapest cars to insure are:
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 (2000 - 2006)- Cheap to find and insure,
Nissan Micra 1.2 (2002 - 2007)- not very expensive to buy, cheap to insure and extreme reliability of a Japanese car and robust build
Volkswagen Polo 1.4 (2002 - 2009)- Not very expensive to buy and has cheap insurance, reliability of a german car
Mercedes Benz A class A140 (1997 - 2004)- Cheap to find depending on weather if its for sale or not, not very expensive to insure and great reliability of a german car.

Out of all these cars i would go for either a Nissan Micra or a Volkswagen Polo as they are fairly good looking cars and can handle some rough driving from teenagers, has cheap insurance and road tax, easy to work on if something goes wrong and gives out fairly good gas milage.

The reason why i don't recommend a Vauxhall Corsa is because it starts showing some problems as soon as it hits 100k Miles on the ODO, and if you are looking for a cheap corsa you will probably find one that is over 100k or about it hit 100k. And for Mercedes Benz A class A140 although its a mercedes and sounds nice and everything is nice the gas milage on this car is not so great compared to the other cars i have recommended so you will see yourself stopping at petrol stations more often.

However there are also cars like the Citroen C2 and Peugeot's i don't recommend them due to their minimal reliability, just stick with a Polo or a Micra

Same as it always has been - under 1.2 litre, hatchback, not sporty, not a luxury spec, 5 to 9 years old and not modified

The Ford Fiesta would be a great first car. There should be nice used ones out there you can afford. Honda Civic is another great car. I own a SI edition Civic. I love it. Toyota Corolla or Camry would be a great first car as well. All the cars I mentioned are great on gas and cheap to insure.

  • Which car is the best first car? - 1 I'm 16 and I'm going to be saving up to buy a car. I want to spend $1000-$5000. I will likely have it all the way through college. I'm looking for comfort, safety, space (I'd be hauling my stuff to college), and winter capability. Here is what I like. -2000-07 Ford Taurus SEL -2000-07 Mercury Sable LS Premium -2005-07 Ford Five-Hundred Limited AWD Which one should I get? I'd like to stick with a V6 that's either FWD or AWD.
  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • What is the best first car for a 16 year kid? Getting my kid a car between the years of 1960 and 1980 because he wants one. Don't care about gas, price or insurance. Not to throw flowers on myself but we can afford it completely. I was thinking between a 1966 Ford Mustang or maybe a 70s Cadillac or a 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV which my father had and i had great memories in.
