What's better. Manual or automatic?
I'm about to get my 1st car next month and i have the option to choose between a manual and a automatic for the ford fiesta eco-boost, anyone know the pros and cons of them both, it will really be a big help
Automatic in so many ways
A manual will get better gas mileage and in my opinion is a lot more fun to drive. An automatic is easy and definitely makes parking on steep hills a piece of cake.
I prefer manual but that is what I used a long time ago for driving lessons and driving test, I have driving automatics but prefer manual and I drive a ford fusion
Automatics are dreadful to drive! Get a manual if your license allows.
Well, I would not buy a Ford Fiesta. That is a joke of a car. You would be killed Instantly in a crash. My son is about to start driving and I would never dream of putting him in a subcompact car.
Buy a solid safe car. An Altima or an Accord. An even better option might be a truck.
If I were a new driver, I would buy an automatic. It is too much to try to concentrate on driving and shifting when you are new.
The manual will give you a couple of miles per gallon better fuel economy than the manual shift. BUT, on a hill or in icy conditions, it will be difficult to get your foot off of the brake and onto the gas at the same time you let off the clutch without rolling or spinning your tires.
The Automatic is more convenient to use in heavy stop and go traffic and it can be driven in individual gears like a manual shift if you desire. You can hold the brake with one foot and accelerate easily from stops on a hill. You can creep along to avoid spinning one ice.
If you're doing mostly long haul driving it doesn't make much difference. If the majority of your driving is around town with lots of starts and stops then opt for the automatic. Your left leg gets worn out pretty fast if you are contending with a lot of traffic.
First car should be manual, so that you get accustomed to it - the next can be automatic. Buy not a new car because the plastic softener come out of the plastic and you breath that in and poison your body (in summer, you can see little drops at the screen - these are the softener)
Automatics work better and last longer.
Each has its place. For a day to day driver… Automatic. Long distance… Automatic. For FUN… I love MANUAL transmission. Work… Truck… Both… But it depends.
- What is the best transmission in a 1983 to 1994 Ford 6.9/7.3 IDI for towing manual or automatic? I seen a lot of OBS Ford 6.9 and 7.3 IDI towing with manual transmission. Very few tow with automatic transmissions. Which is better for Ford 6.9/7.3 IDI towing manual or automatic?
- Switching from manual to automatic? 1977 Ford F100 truck? Hello I'm going to switch manual to automatic, I just need to know the cost estimate if I had it done professionally. I know it will be expensive but I want this truck only.
- Is it possible to get an automatic 2014 Mustang GT or are they all manual? My first car is more than likely going to be a 2014 Ford Mustang. I kinda want a Mustang GT but I don't know how to drive a manual and I don't recall ever seeing an automatic Mustang GT. Is it even possible to find one?
- Can you get a 2015 ford mustang and Chevy camaro in automatic transmission instead of manual transmission? Hi, I'm thinking about buying a 2015 ford mustang or Chevy camaro. Both of the cars come in manual transmission! Is it possible to get it in automatic transmission instead? Can I just ask the dealer (dealership) to give me the car with automatic transmission or do I have to change it myself?
