Is it ok if i drive with my dog next to me in the front seat?

So i have a small car. Is it ok if put him in the front seat? Its a 2 month old husky? I really want to take her for a drive to a park and a walk sometimes.

if it really matters the car is a 2016 ford fiesta s.

She's NOT protected in case of a front-end collision. Back seat would be safer. Question: Does your car have the in seat weight sensors that turn the passenger side air bag on & off, by seeing if there's somebody sitting there? Would she be heavy enough to trip that sensor so the air bag would deploy? If so, then she could sit in the passenger seat by you AND be protected…

No its not ok and if you had to brake hard the dog be thrust forward and possibly may badly injure itself.
It could even go through the front windscreen "if unrestrained".
A dog should either be on the back seat restrained by a dog seat belt harness, or in the back part of the car in a suitable crate or with a dog guard between it and the passenger seats.
An 8 week old Husky should not be Walked in public until its had all its vaccinations.

No. It's not safe for you or the puppy. They tend to jump around and distract the driver. They do make a seat belt type restraint that will keep him in the seat and not jumping in your lap. Look for it on Amazon, Chewy.com, or your local pet store.

It is very dangerous for both you and the dog

Nope. The dog should be in a "pet carrier" that is secured in the back seat.

It is illegal in my State, addressed very specifically.

Does she have a seat belt harness? Yes. Otherwise if you hit something she'll go through the dashboard or window.

What's sobering is the pet safety/crash tests done by Mazda and Subaru with harnesses, carriers and dog cages. Many explode on impact. I tried to find the one that showed that a carrier stored sideways on the floor of the back seat was the safest place in the car to protect both the dog and the construction of the carrier, but couldn't find it. It showed harnesses, cages, everything and the only one that survived intact was the one set sideways behind the front seat.

Here's a video that shows what happens at even 30 mph.

No never. If you had to do an emergency stop you could really end up hurting your dog. You can get a harnesses for your dog and a seatbelt attachment for it. It's much safer that way. It's alwags a good idea to have a hardness for Husky anyway they have a tendency to pull and a harness will help with that and keep your dog safe in the car.

If you have a harness to keep it safe.

Yes but you'll have to learn the arm swoop if you hit the brakes, like people with children do. Shoot your arm over to the passenger side to keep the dog in the seat. Dogs injuries in cars are usually broken jaws or teeth from hitting their snouts on the dash. There's some harnesses available to keep the dog from flying forward as well. I only had luck with them so far using in the back seat and anchoring them to the babyseat anchor.

  • Vibration/thumping in front suspension. More than likely.drivers front 2002 Ford Sport Trac Vibration/thumping. More speed, the more it vibrates, shakes, and makes the thump thump thump sound. Passenger side mirror shows no sign of movement… Drivers side mirror shakes quite a bit. No noticeable noises other than the thumping. No hard pulling to either side in steering wheel. No difference when braking. Any input would be very much appreciated!
  • Does anyone have a dog car seat cover for a ford ka or small car? Hi, I recently purchased 2013 for ka and I'm having trouble finding a dog cover for the back that actually fits as the back only has two seats so the ones I have purchased tend to be too big and the slits for the seatblets tend to be too far apart. Does anyone have one use for a small car?
  • How do I get my conversion back seat/sofa bed back into seat position if switch stopped working? Is there a way to do it manually? Want to put my Ford Econoline conversion sofa back into seat position but my switched stopped working. I have not tried to do it manually yet. Is it possible though?
  • Can I put a ford front seat in a honda? I want to put the front seat of my old ford focus in my new honda civic because the ford seats are way more comfortable than my honda seat. Anyway i'm really close with a mechanic that works at a body shop. He told me it is possible but bring it in it can be easy or really complicated. I want to do it myself because he will charge me a good buck. If it is possible what will I need tools, Frame, seat adjustment, etc I have no clue so how should I do this and go about it?
