Why won't the gas in my fuel tank go in the carburetor? 1984 Ford F-150 302 5.0 Automatic?

I have put a new fuel tank, new starter, new battery, new fuel lines, the fuse is good for the fuel tank. I have at least a 1/4 of a tank in the fuel tank, i can only get it to run if i put gas directly into the carb, it won't flow from the furl tank to the carb. What should i do? Please Help.

Added (1). * i meant new fuel pump, not tank.

What about the fuel pump?

1984? This may still have a mechanical fuel pump instead of an electrical one? Check and verify. Also, you say you put new fuel lines in, but did you bother to bleed the fuel thru the lines to get out all the air pockets that would exist?

Sounds like it's time for a new fuel pump. Easy way to find out. Disconnect the line at the carb and turn the ignition to ON. If the fuel doesn't flow the pump is dead.

Is this a Fomoco carb? Does it have a small filter where the fuel line connects to the carb?

Does the fuel pump have three lines to it? One is the return line. If any of those lines are in the wrong position on the pump…

Needle Valve maybe stuck in the closed position. Open up the carb and check needle valve, seat and the position of the float.

Check the line that goes to venting the tank could be plugged.

Possibly a blockage somewhere or a bad fuel pump.

The carburettor float is stuck in position and stopping any fuel getting into the engine.
