Ford Engineering. Probably because they changed sizes part way through the production year. I once worked on an F150 of my son's that had fractional bolts in the front two holes of the transmission rear cross member and metric bolts in the rear holes. Wasn't something some mechanic had done either. The bolts went into threaded holes in the frame.
- Why do car companies sell in different countries under different names? Why are companies like Chevrolet selling their cars under names like Holden in Australia? I'm not sure if Chevrolet sells in Australia but I do think they do. If they already sell in Australia, what's the point of selling the same thing under Holden? Another example is some Ford cars are sold under Lincoln, and Chevrolet sells the same thing under GMC. Buick and Opel? What's with this?

- Tstat Ford 94 Mustang: broken bolt, drilled new hole for a bolt? Replacing thermostat in my car when the bolt broke leading us to need to drill a new place for another bolt right next to the old one. Will drilling this and placing a new bolt, hold the thermostat in place and work to keep my car from over heating? I have no idea if doing this will work…
- How is fording a river in a manual 4x4 different to an automatic 4x4? I had forded a river with a LR Defender before and usually stuck it in Low 2nd gear and push through the river at 2-3k rpm. Luckily I never got stuck in the middle but I remember reading somewhere that it is easier to ford rivers with an automatic gearbox due to the lack of clutch housing? Since automatic gearbox won't really stall in the middle of the river, would it be okay to shift it in reverse if stuck?
