What would i need to do to my 2007 Ford F-150 in order to cam it? I know I need a new cam but what else as in supporting mods?

What i mean is apart from buying a new camshaft what other mods go along with camming a truck?

A cam is really the 'last' thing you should do to take advantage of other mods like higher flows and compression, re-gearing ect. Just putting a big cam in will probably make it more doggy in everyday driving. The lope might sound cool though till someone blows you away with a stock vehicle. Then you'll just want to flush your keys down the shtter.

Yes

1. Your truck has not one, but two cams (assuming you have one of the modular V8's). The fact that you keep mentioning "a cam" is in singular, suggests that you don't know much about your truck to begin with. But generally you'll need to check to see if you need stiffer valve springs, and you'll certainly need a custom tune.

2. If you have the 5.4L, then it has variable valve timing, which makes cam swaps, less necessary. If you have a the 4.6L, then you're wasting your time from the get go, in that using a hotter set of cams will just kill your low end. You might gain 30 HP at 5000 RPM, but you'll lose about as much down low, and with the pig-heavy 11th gen F-150, you want all the torque you can get.

The 04-07 F-150's with the 3 valve 5.4L have a known issue with the cam phasers, If you have more than say 100k on the clock, I'd definitely change those to the updated part, you'll save on labor if you do those at the same time. But realistically a pair of came for the 5.4L will cost $700-$800 just for the cams. Add in another $300 for the cam phasers and another $150 for a timing chain kit, and them another grand for the labor, plus another $250 for tuning, and you're at around $2500 for what will amount to a 30-40 HP gain. Pretty piss-poor value for money when you consider you can get a supercharger for around $5000 and net an easy 150+ HP on a conservative tune.
