What are the color codes for a third brake light on a 2000 ford f150?

I recently bought a third brake light off of ebay and yes it does fit my truck, how ever on the new light it has red, white and black wires but on the old light it has black, green and black with a blue stripe… Can someone please tell me which wires go to which

You can get a free wiring diagram on Autozone.Goto Autozone.com, enter your vehicle info in the system, then scroll to the bottom of page and click Full Site, next click Repair Help, then scroll to bottom and click Vehicle Repair Guide, then click on the section you wanna look at such as chassis electrical, etc.

On the new brake light, the red is the + lead to the battery, the black is ground/- lead to battery, and the white would be the signal wire. On the old light, I'd guess that the black wire is the positive lead, the black/blue stripe wire is the negative/ground, and the green wire is the signal wire.

Is the new brake light an LED system, or does it use conventional light bulbs? LEDs are much smaller than light bulbs, and look like an array of clear or red plastic pellets. If your brake light uses normal bulbs, you can't hurt it by wiring it in wrong. Connect it like I directed, and if it doesn't work, just swap wires and try again. If it is an LED brake light, there's a very slim chance that you could damage it by wiring it incorrectly. The brake light should have come with an identifying diagram for the leads, although the black/white/red color scheme is fairly standard.
