Should I unplug my trucks battery at night? Its old but I re?
Ok I have a 2001 ford f150 super crew 4x4 4.6 that I restored and I baby its all stock and its literally my favorite car I ever, my question is I I go as far as to keep a car cover on it should I unplug the battery when I'm done using it? I have another one that is my beater so the nice one sits a few days at a time my concern is fire I don't want this truck to ever break and would like serious answers iv owned this vehicle for 3 years so i'm positive how much I like it, thanks
A battery can hold power for 30 to 40 days without the car being used. The terminals of the cables are not designed to be unplugged daily or many times a month. As to the cover, no, covers can damage paint unless they are high quality ones and those are expensive and subject to vandalism. If his truck is so loved, why is here not a garage for storage? You can do whatever you want to protect it but nothing beats an inside parking area.
Your concern is fire? It won't light itself up sitting there.
Every time you disconnect the battery, the computer and clocks re-set.
You'll be putting up with poor running every time you drive it, until the computer re-learns.
In other words, you should not.
