MECHANICS. I NEED ADVICE?
Been car shopping for 04-05 Ford F150… I test drove 3 already… They are all 5,4 liter engines… With 130000 mile range… They all drove good but the only thing that kept me from buying was a LOUD click noise coming from the engines… Like… CLACK CLACK CLACK… But when I test drive… They all drove good… So is this normal… For the engine? I looked online… Some say its normal… Some say its a sensor… I don't know… Any advice will help… Thanks…
Engine noise is never a good sign. There's a good reason Ford discontinued this engine in F-150's
Ford has two service bulletins on the problem. One involves replacing the cam phasers, the other involves replacing an EVAP system valve. See the bulletins below.

That's normal
- To all you mechanics out there? I bought a 1998 ford ranger 2.5 liter with a l4 motor. The only problem is it has a blown head gasket. Would it be possible to put a 4 liter v6 out of a 1998 ranger in without having to re wire everything and get a new computer?
- I need a little advice in buying a new car? I have a great steady job and I can afford to buy a car from the dealership. It is the first time I ever go to a dealership for a car. I'm just wondering if there's any good reliable brands you can recommend to look out for? How is Ford, in your opinion? Also, what are the next steps one takes after buying a new car? Tags, plates, and insurance right?
- Mechanics and DIY fixers: Diagnoses on Automatic Car Error Code? Error code P0750 on Ford Focus 2007. Already replaced Solenoid A as well as a Transmission Fluid Flush a month ago. Saw exposed wire for Sol-A and cut and reattached the wires with solder, no protection over soldered wires. I saw today that the Transmission Fluid is dirty, despite a flush a month ago. Does the Error Code deal with something else other than the Solenoid? Websites aren t helping me
- First time car buyer: need advice? I would like to buy a car with the following conditions: safe, good gas mileage, easy for me to move seats down in case I move (I don't own much but two furniture pieces I have to put seats down), certified preowned. My family runs within the Toyota, ford and Chevy business but I'm willing to look beyond those as long as the cars aren t notorious for being a lemon. And how much would be good to put down?
