It could be a dirty throttle body, very common on Fords. If there's a carbon buildup it won't give a correct air/fuel mixture. After it cools it shoots extra gas and starts. Try turning the key to the on position 2 time without cranking the engine. That will give the extra fuel you need to start. It could also be multiple weak injectors that leak down after shutting it off.

- Reliability of a 1990 ford f150? I wrecked my old car and am buying a new car at the end of December when my house is done being built and my credit opens up. I needed a car to get to work for 2 months so i bought a 1990 f150 for $1000 to get me threw 2 months, so far it has driven fine, if i sit still for too long it starts to stutter and sometimes stalls in reverse if i leave it sitting, i was wondering what the chances are of it making it threw 2 months
