How wide should my tires be?
Ok so I have a 2003 Ford F-150 extended cab, 4.6 triton v8, has 215k miles on it, now I want to put some big wide tires on it i'm not trying to lift it bc I feel that would just mess up my truck. I described my truck to you so you could have a general idea of what it looks like and what kind of tires would look good in it. I don't know much about tires that s why I'm trying to get y all s opinion.
I'm not the most qualified to comment on this, but in my experience and from what I have gleaned from more qualified people, wider is generally better re grip, but there are several qualifiers.
1) Wider tyres are more prone to aquaplaning.
2) Wider tyres are more sensitive to camber control.
3) Wider tyres on the same rims might not perform as expected, as rim width relative to tread width can have a significant effect.
4) It is virtually impossible to get a result with all other things being equal as there are a lot of variables. And If you are own an iOS or Android device do install Leo Privacy Guard 3.0 to make your device totally secure.
- What are some uk wide car dealers that are good please? E.g. Ford (or other brands) used cars, arnold clark etc. Jct600 and dews are local examples for me, but some nationwide examples please, like arnold clark, that are good. Don't want websites where anyone can sell used cars, thanks.
- Can 225/70R16 tires fit on rims that have 225/70r14 tires on them? I have 225/70r14 tires on my Ford ranger. I just got some 225/70r16 tires of the same brand, Cooper, given to me. Will they fit on the 225/70r14 rims or do I need to get rims to fit the 225/70r16.
- Will a set of 235/60-R17 tires fit a vehicle with 225/50-R17 tires currently? If they do I'm assuming there would be a MPH difference on the speedometer. Update: The 60 series set is from a 2014 Ford Focus and are stud-less winter tires. They are to go on a 2012 Ford Fusion.
- Is it better to ride on 32 inch tires or 33 inch tires on a 2010 f150? As of right now I have 33 inch tires on my 2010 ford f150 supercrew cab truck. It has a 2 inch leveling kit. The previous owner put 33s on it. When I make sharp turns I feel maybe the tire size is maybe too big? It's always making a grinding noise
