How much to fix head gasket?

I'm a college student and thinking about buying a cheap 4wd vehicle to have and there's one person that has a 2002 ford f 150 with 126,000 miles on it and said it just started to leak oil out of a head gasket how much would it cost to fix and how much should I pay for the truck?

It will need more than just the head gasket. If its been cooked is there any point doing just the gasket?

Leak oil out of a head gasket? If this is true then the engine is junk making the truck worth at the most, $600 and I bet I'm high on the price.

You KNOW it has at least one issue, You DON'T know how many other issues it has. Even if the current owner is being entirely honest, they may note know about everything. I wouldn't purchase ANY used vehicle from a private seller without having it inspected by a mechanic you trust.

Don't buy it. If the head gasket went, it's most likely because the water pump impeller eroded and the engine over-heated repeatedly. Along with the head gasket and water pump, you'll have to do both exhaust manifolds. If they haven't started leaking yet, they will soon. The front cats also develop holes on top that will suck in air and throw a code. There's four cats and none of them are cheap to replace. If you want to change the rear two spark plugs, the easiest way is to remove the cab.

Don't buy the truck at any price. You would have to buy a rebuilt short block. The material and labor for such a job: $4,000.

Buy a ford focus you don't need a truck to commute to college unless you doing some construction work.

I'd take a pass.

Head.

Not much 80-150$
