Ford f150 got dirty fuel. How can i flush the fuel lines?
I gassed up at a gas station and a quarter mile of driving my truck started running poorly and it got worse and worse until it didn't want to run anymore. I checked the fuel filter and brown gas came out I replace the fuel filter and injectors with spare ones and I ran great so I know I have dirt and my fuel system how can I flush out the fuel lines and clean my tank?
Flush it like you'd flush a piece of s hit that just won't flush in the toilet.
You need to drain the fuel tank or pump it out if there's no drain plug. Then disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail. Turn on the ignition and let the pump flush the fuel lines. You may have to do this many times to get all the fuel out as the pump will stop after about 5 seconds because the engine will not start. Now reconnect fuel line and replace the fuel filter if it has an external filter. Pour in about 5 gallons of fresh fuel and drive to a service station and fill it up. Add one can of Seafoam fuel system cleaner to that full tank of fuel. You can buy the Seafoam at Walmart or any auto parts store.
Detach the fuel line and bypass the fuel pump relay and pump it out.
- I have a 1999 ford ranger and i have coolant in one of my vacuum lines? Its the red line that runs to the egr vacuum mod on the passenger side of the motor. The part that the egr line goes to as well. I'm not sure why I have coolant running through a vacuum line. This causes coolant to run to the egr valve so I need to fix it
