Ford F-150 Truck started, ran rough. Now won't start at all. Any ideas?

1977 Ford F-150 with carburetor, 8 cylinders.

After several attempts, it started immediately (without the usual starter crank-up sound), ran loud & rough like a lawnmower. I turned it off, now it won't start.

Starter is strong, battery full, airfilter good, fresh fuel is reaching the carb. Weather is hot and slightly humid.

Anyone have a guess?

Check POINTS and CONDENSER! Use AMSOIL POWER FOAM to rebuild the carb as you WATCH IT! It will FOAM out junk in bo and under float and clean the AIR and FUEL jets inside without taking it APART! Check the FUEL PUMP diaphragm as well! ALSO carb ACCELERATOR PUMP and internal seals! Do DSITRBITUOR first, though! BYE NOW!

Jumped time. You need to replace the timing chain. Its not like the imports where when you break a timing belt and scrap the engine. Not to hard of a job and not that expensive if you do it yourself

Robert m is wrong points were only in use until 1975 your control box is going out its on the driver side wheel well about 4"x4" it has a round plug containing approx 7 wires you can remove the mount screws and look at the back its molded but you'll notice a small burned mark thru the gel sometimes when cold it will fire up but with heat it will fail the last one i bought was 60.00 for that year truck consider that was a few years ago but the problem is 95% accurate
