2003 Ford F150 won't turn over
I have a 2003 ford f150 and looking for ideas to my problem. Long story short truck ran great, wife went to start it and just clicked so I messed with the starter solenoid (as before I bought the truck it was rigged) truck started right up no problems so my wife drove it the rest of the day. The next day she had to go out of town so I took her truck just incase, and again nothing messed with solenoid fired right up, when to work drove great got to work put it in rev to back into my parking spot and motor just quit light radio everything still worked just motor quit, it has never stalled or even acted as if it would always ran great.
Truck wouldnt start messed with solenoid nothing so had it towed home bought a new starter all together put it in and tried to roll over for about 1/2 a second then nothing, engine won't turn over. So I tried a different starter out of my other truck same thing.
My problem is the engine won't roll over, battery is good starter is good, just won't roll over but run perfect before that.
If you have a one-wire starter, you might be the victim of an age-old problem.
Sometimes the nut that holds the wire to the terminal on the starter vibrates loose.
Make sure it is tight.
Be sure to hold the terminal on the starter with another wrench
so that it doesn't twist while you tighten the nut!
If it turns, connections inside the starter can be broken.
Otherwise, the solenoid could be bad.
Keep in mind that even if a meter or test light
seems to indicate that the solenoid is good,
it may not be good enough for the starter.
Starters pull a LOT of current, and even a small resistance (such as bad contacts) can prevent the flow of sufficient power to allow the starter to work.
Solenoids are relatively cheap.
Check also the connections for all the heavy cables particularly at the battery. Remove them all & clean them with a wire brush or emery paper so the they are shiny on the contact faces.
Check all connections for a un-snug wire. Even the battery
- Ford Taurus won't turn over? I just got my 1994 Ford Taurus back from the transmission shop yesterday from getting the torque converter replaced. Yesterday it was fine. I drove to a friend's house from the shop and then home. Shutting it off and starting it twice in between. This morning I went out to it, turned the key, and nothing. The starter didn't even try to turn over. All instrumentation still works fine. Before I back it up and dig into it, any ideas what it could be? A blown fuse or anything like that?
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
- Ford Festiva 1985 won't completely turn over? I just turned 15 and for my first car I got a Ford Festiva. Problem is it won't turn over all the way. It hasn't ran in about 4 years or so. My friends and I attempted at jump starting it and it wouldn't turn over. It just makes the noise as if it is trying to. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry not an '85 but an '88
- 2003 ford focus won't start or turn over? I recently bought this car and it started and ran fine. Now it won't turn over it sounds like it's clicking. What does this mean?
