1994 ford f150 higher idle?
94 f150 5.8 after I start it, it idles up to 1100 rpm. Shortly after the check engine light comes on
Time for a full inspection and tune up, maybe the fuel injectors, throttle body, plugs, air filter, gas line filter, carbon filter etc let the professional's fix this.
And the ECM trouble code is?
Could be just a vacuum leak causing a high idle but a slightly higher idle speed… 1000 rpm's or so… On cold start is normal. It should settle down after a few minutes. Check the PCV, vacuum hoses or air intake ducts for damage like cracks, split, loose, etc. Check to see what trouble codes you are getting which might also help diagnose a problem area.

Take the vehicle to a auto parts store they will read the trouble code and that will tell you what need to be done.
Yea, first thing is look for a vacuum leak…
Maybe a sticking IAC valve. But OK, it does something wrong. Then the computer turns on the check engine light to tell you it knows something's wrong. You need to check the codes and see what the computer is trying to tell you first.
- I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
- Higher RPM and transmission issue - ford car? Hi i have this higher rpm at start in my 10year old ford card… Where my rpm raises to 3000 at the time of start. i now have a transmission problem and that requires rebuilt. is ther a relation between this higher rppm at start issue and eventually failure in transmission,. could the higher rpm issue might have caused the transmission failure.
- Why Does Replacing Idle Air Control Valve on 2002 Ford F150 not correct Idle issue? Got A check engine light. Code said Idle Air Contol Valve. Purchased A control valve at parts store. Replaced control valve with new one. Engine Idled up real high. Attempted driving, thought computer had to reset. Engine still idled up too high. Parts store said vehicle had to be driven for at least 20 miles for control valve to operate correctly. Drove truck 30 miles, engine started to surge. Put old control valve back in and engine does not idle high or surge but stalls out.( suggestions) ?
- 1999 ford f150 v6 rough idle and spark plug questipn? My 99 Ford f150 is a v6 and I'm having a rough idea or a miss while my foots on the brake and its in gear it idles like it wants to die. I just noticed the 3 plug wired on the passenger side were burnt so I imagine its spark knocking. But my question is what plugs should I use and is this my only problem causing the rough idle? But should I go with e3s?
