07 Ford F150 Superduty to Pioneer AVHX3800BHS stereo, Steering wheel interface: what do I need to make audio controls work?
I installed a Pioneer AVHX3800BHS stereo about a year ago, and my friend helping me was familiar with installing stereos; he told me my steering wheel controls would be disabled and that he didn't think there was a way to connect them. A year later and a quick Google search seems to indicate that I should have done more research earlier.
I'm running into trouble figuring out what i need to make it happen still. Is it a module? Wiring harness? A certified stereo technician?
I'm confident in my ability to plug Af->AmBf->Bm and removing panels, but so many manufacturers, lingo, and wires pointing everywhere is overwhelming me… I'm not good at shopping.
Everything else is connected and works, so not sure if I should buy a full blown wiring kit or if this SWC is something I can get separately.
My suggestion - contact Pioneer and tell them the vehicle + stereo info
Go to a car audio shop. They will tell you what needs to be done.
Yes, that HU has a wired remote input. If you get a steering wheel remote adapter it should work.
I'd start at crutchfield.com. One of their advisor windows should pop up. Talk with them.
I think a remote kit like this will be what you need:
Installation may be fairly involved.
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
- JL audio vs MMATS vs BANG & OLUFSEN for car audio systems? Custom rebuilding my 1965 Ford Mustang, but looking at which sound system is the best (money is not a issue so suggestions welcome)!
- I have a 2011 ford fusion and the steering wheel controls are not working? I have a 2011 ford fusion and the steering wheel controls are not doing the right thing when you hit the volume or channel buttons the change to am/fm/cd also when you turn the car on it is never on the same am/fm/cd that you left it on and when I turn the car off you get like 5 to 10 min to play the radio and now it just goes off. I need help!
- Can i still use steering wheel controls with an aftermarket radio? I was thinking about buying an aftermarket radio for my 06 ford fusion because i want Bluetooth, USB and aux. I do love using the audio controls on the steering wheel, and i was going to go best buy to see what they can do, but i was just wondering if you can still use them, or its possible to do so, with an aftermarket stereo?
