Will a transmission from a ford 6.0 disel work behind a ford 4.6 gas engin?

My ford explorer transmission messed up just like all the other ons i want to put a totally differnt transmission in it. My friend has the 5r110 transmission sitting in his graudge i can get it cheap thats why i'm asking this question. It might be stupid but you never know until you ask.

After messing up the transmission in your explorer and couldn't afford a rebuild as your friend has the 5r110 taken out of a super duty as you learn the 6L power-stroke had sent the power through it. Before putting it in your explorer its better to go through the transmission to make sure everything is okay as the components were already fortified to hold up to the power-stroke's torque.

I highly doubt it. The PCM in your Explorer won't have provisions to operate the 5r110. Also the 5r110 is a physically larger transmission than the one in your Explorer, so it might not even fit, and assuming you can get it fit ( you might need to fab up some custom cross members), and you buy a standalone controller for it, you're going to need a custom driveshaft. If your Explorer is 4WD/AWD, then things are going to get harder. The transfer case will have to be moved so it will line up with the 5r110 and you'll need at least two custom driveshafts, it will be a chore and it won't be cheap either.

I doubt it.
