Because the F-150 dominated the pickup truck market. Besides, there was also the ranger (at the time) so ultimately there was no need for such a vehicle. This is basically the same story of the old Jeep Comanche. It was the pickup truck version of the Jeep Cherokee that ended up being killed off really fast. Didn't sell that well. It was basically an F-150 four door pick-up. Sales too low to support the change to new bodies and frames. Hi Like all ford products they simply cease the production as it starts to fail and spares become difficult to source. The plant (louiville assembly) that made them started making the new escapes the tooling is different along with the type of vehicle escape is unibody sport trac had full frame based upon the old explorer the new explorer is unibody based upon the tarus On July 27, 2009, Ford, concerned with the declining sales of the Sport Trac, made the announcement that it would end production after the 2011 model year,[3] but a year later on July 30, 2010, it announced that it was discontinuing the Sport Trac earlier than expected, after the 2010 model year and will not offer a 2011 model[4] as it prepares to shift production of the next generation Explorer to its Chicago plant. The last Sport Trac rolled off the assembly line on October 29, 2010,[5] though sales of the 2010 model continued through 2011.
