Which is more reliable an '06-'09 Ford Explorer or '06-'09 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Trying to decide whether to go with a Grand Cherokee or a Ford Explorer now. It would be a 2006-2009 model year for either of them. I read tons of reviews online, but you can't always rely on that info. Just don't want issues like my tranny in my 2011 Ford Escape… That was hell!

So you have read "tons" of reviews that you can't rely on and then you come here! You expect something different?

Currently I'm looking at a 2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with 116,000 miles priced at 8500, and also a 2010 Ford Explorer with 113,000 miles for 7500. Which would be the wiser more reliable choice? Any other vehicles I should be considering in that price range?
