What's wrong with ford explorers?

I keep hearing bad things about ford explorers and fords in general
why don't people like explorers? Are they dangerous or something?

Ford Explorers have been known to have rollover issues because of the high center of gravity.Another thing was the tires that was supplied with Explorers.Firestone was the standard tire and they had safety issues with the tires possibly blowing out at some point, causing serious injury, and or death.

I know in some cases, Ford along with other makes have had recalls, due to certain defects from the factory. I would say that owning an Explorer isn't a bad thing, most people steer clear due to the stories of previous incidences that has occurred in the past.

Depends what sort of driving you are intending on doing with it, if you are looking to go off-road, forget about it. They do have the nickname Ford Exploder, but not sure where that one originated from.

  • Why do Ford Explorers fishtail when swerving to avoid something on the highway? 2000 Ford Explorer with 34K miles on it, driving at night on trip came upon a tractor trailer with no taillights that the trailer brakes had locked up on and didn't see it until I got up on it and swerved to the left and the vehicle fishtailed. It was dangerous enough coming up on the unlit trailer and then to fishtail in avoiding an accident is a bit much. Need to know what can cause the fishtailing. Is it a common occurrence with Ford
