What does taking the muffler off do?
I have a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I was wondering what would it sound like if I took off the muffler? Would it be louder? Would it be a clean loud or nasty?
It will sound extremely loud… Intolerable… You will get pulled over and given a ticket and ordered to correct it… Depending on where you are, you may be ordered not to drive it and have to have it towed. This happened to my brother when he had an old muffler that blew out. He tried to drive it to work. Got pulled over and told he could not continue to drive it but had to get a ride and a tow to a place to fix it. He was given a ticket for violating a noise ordinance.
It would be louder, I would just have a louder muffler installed as opposed to no muffler at all. You could get a ticket.
- What muffler should I put on my GMC Yukon? I have a 2003 GMC yukon with the 4.8L. I want something deep and throaty and noticeable, but not too extreme because it is a daily driver and I would like to keep it somewhat classy, plus I like to hear the radio and people talking. I've had only Flowmasters on past vehicles, I've had the 40, 44 and 10s in the past but always on Ford engines. Any suggestions? Don't have to be flowmasters by the way
- What kind of muffler should I get? So I recently got a 95 ford mustang and I'm looking into putting a new muffler on it. Actually I'm. I want it to sound more beastly and mean. I'm either putting a flow master 40 series or 44 super series. Also it's a 3.8L v6. Out of those two what one should I get? I don't want to add new pipes. Later on I might add a cat back but I don't know.
- I have a 1999 Ford Mustang GT and its sluggish when taking off? What could be the issue? Its sluggish on power usually only happens in the first 3 gears between 1800 and 2000 rpms. And also when I give it gas at idle it stays at 2000 rpm before idling down. 178k miles. Just changed a faulty o2 sensor. So what else could possibly making it do this. Probably plugs and coil on plugs need to be changed? If any advice it would greatly help thanks
- Best muffler for a V6 mustang? I just bought my 2013 V6 mustang last week and the sound isn't suiting me all that well, it's not bad, just not good enough. I want to buy a new muffler to either have a nice sports car/race car sound or something nice and deep but not too throaty and gurgly. What are y'all's opinion on the best sounding mufflers and brands on this car?
