Steel wool on Car window?

My drivers side window on my Ford Explorer has two parallel lines going vertically up and down. Its probably from where the little ball bearing lifts the automatic window up and down.

I want to get my windows tinted(its FL), so I want to remove those lines. I heard 0000 steel wool is good for removing blemishes on car glass.

Yay or Nay?

There's no ball bearing in your window. I would not use steel wool on glass unless I was planning on polishing it after. I would not polish it before applying tint film.

It will work. Inside the door are white nylon pads the guide the glass up & down, & they can leave some marks. I've used 0000 on glass where the wiper arm broke & scratched it.

Why is it called 0000? Is that the shape of the steel wool curls?

The nylon guide bushings are dragging on the glass, and scratching it. They need to be cleaned out and silicon sprayed or replaced. They are going to wreck the tint in the same spots. 0000 steel wool will get the scratches out. But if the nylon guides are left that way, the tint will be torn up by them.
Been There. Done That.
