I ordered a replacement running board for my 2003 Ford Explorer but can I back out if the Ford Repair Shop has the part in stock?
A neighbor offered to buy my car as is. I already ordered the used replacement running board and the dealer got it in stock but I know the cost of the running board (used) is $300.00 but I'm tempted to sell the Ford XLT AS IS for about twice or more then the blue book price. I always maintain my vehicle and I bought my last Exporer XLT from this dealer ship and plan on buying the next Ford vehicle their too but I feel like a rat telling the dealership I changed my mind. I know their will be an added labor cost to install this used running board but with all good conscience can I just tell the Ford Dealership repair shop that I changed my mind? I feel awful backing down on my word but since I got this offer to sell my 15 year old Ford XLT at twice or more BLUE BOOK price what should I do?
Added (1). @ thebax2006 I'm 72 and worked for Ford's until I retired in 2006. But the best person who does my car buying is my wife and she (with the help of my A plan) can get me a price that she is satisfied with but I could buy from "the LOT" of cars that Ford puts up for sale but I don't like to haggle but my wife is a Filipina and she was raised to haggle for EVERYthing
Added (2). I ended up having the dealership install the new (used) running board. I needed it anyway and it was less then half of a brand new running board .New Running Board = 700 buck used running board 300 bucks
in the end. Its only plastic
Yes you can change your mind, but there may be freight you may have to pay
Restocking fee will apply. Usually 15 % dealer will let you know
Ring the dealer up and tell them you sold or lost the car and you no longer want the part.
If you didn't put money down on it you won't lose any money. They can ship it back or use it on another vehicle.
You had better watch out for the salesmen when you buy your next vehicle. They take advantage of people "worried" about what a dealership "thinks" of them!
Hi so if you didn't put a deposit down yes. However by putting a deposit down you have committed to a contract to buy it. So you would lose that deposit as that would be the dealers compensation for you cancelling the order.
- My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
