I have a 2018 Ford Explorer, my interior dome light stays on when door is open. I want it to remain off at all times. How do I fix it?

There's a button on the headlight nob switch that allows it on and off while in the car. I don't want light to be on when i park, open the door to gather things at night. I don't want people to have a chance of looking inside. How can i fix the problem?

Should be a setting on the switch. If not, remove the bulb.

Read the manual.

Oddly, there does not seem to be that feature. See page 88 of your owner's manual (source). You can turn it on manually but you do not seem to be able to disable it. You may have to cover the dome light or remove the bulb (the manual says it is a W5W lamp but does not have instructions for removing it.) All that is kinda bogus.

Take the bulb out

Yank the bulb out.

Take the bulb out of the light fixture

Remove the bulb.

There may be a sliding switch on the light, that controls when the light is on.

Read your owner's manual. In my car, if i want it like you're asking, my dome light has a switch to select that- always on, on when door is open or always off.

Disconnect the connector at the bulb.
