Hear me out on this I'm considering getting a 2004 Ford Explorer xlt or a 2005 jetta 2.5?

The Jetta gets 22 city 30 Highway. Tank capacity 14.5 gallons which means 319 miles city 435 highway while on the other hand the explorer gets 16 city and 21 highway with a fuel tank capacity of 22.5 gallons which would mean city it'll get 360 city 472 highway wouldn't the explorer get the better gas mileage? But yes it is more expensive to fill Jetta would cost around 34 dollars and the explorer around 54 dollars

Those mpg figures are estimates only, to be used as helps when purchasing a vehicle… The jetta shows 30 mpg and the explorer shows 21, so in theory, the jetta has better fuel mpg ( the size of the fuel tank is moot )

Hi so where is your logic up a tree somewhere. MPG is what you want to go further.
so no matter how often you need to stop and fill it up with either more diesel oil or gasoline distance is the object of buying a car which gives the best economy.
the reasoning is simple logic. Large engines drink more fuel fact. Smaller engines drink less. So as usual an american being HOMOPHOBIC about your home produced cars.

The MPG figures stated by the manufacturers are generally pretty vague, but it seems to me it would be fairly obvious a 'Jeta' would be more economical than the Ford.
Forget 'Tank capacity' or 'Range'… All that matters is the actual MPG figure.

Someone explain to 'Dr Bears face' what "HOMOPHOBIC" means… LOL!
