FORD SECURITY MODULE ISSUES?

Hello so my 2005 ford explorer has been at my mechanic's for 2 weeks the issues that I'm having is the car starts but dies in 2 seconds and also the locks stopped working and keyless entry stopped working and lights in car stopped working and windows were acting crazy so he tells me it's the security module ok but can the security module cause the car not to start also is my question please!

Actually it sounds like an issue with the Transponder of the Key.
FYI, the Keyless entry module is not the same as the PATS module on the fords, they are separate. On the steering column is a collar that picks up the transponder frequency of your key. There's a "security" light or such on your Dash.
Place the key in the ignition, turn the key to ON not start. Check to make sure the "security" light is solid. If it is blinking or does not light, then there's either a sensor issue, a key issue, or the module has no power or is disconnected.
FYI, your mechanic should know this type of stuff. The fact that your body computer or other electronics is freaking out is a dead give away something is not connected, IE, fuse, power loss, ground loss or such.
Again, the body module, that controls lights, windows and door locks is not part of the ignition security system. They are separate and if the Keyless entry isn't working either, that is a dead give away as well.
The keyless entry is a separate module from the other two.
Ford uses what is called PATS, or Passive Anti Theft System. Meaning, it uses a transponder in the key to talk to a Ring sensor that is wrapped around the ignition switch on the column. If the key transponder doesn't match, battery of transponder is low or dead, or the PATS system doesn't have power, the signal to the PCM or Power Train Control Module is interrupted.
See the attached site and tell your mechanic to read it too. FYI, he can also google a troubleshooting manual for the PATS.
Again, not to bag on your mechanic, but this is why I do not let other people touch my vehicles. This is a simple issue that he is either totally trying to screw you, or is just incompetent.

FYI,
If you took your vehicle to the mechanic in the "non running condition" IE, it would start then shut off, or Check engine light was also lit, on the side of the air filter housing is a connector to the MASS flow sensor. Unplug it and see if the vehicle will start. If it does, the mass air flow sensor is either dirty or bad.
