2003 Ford Explorer O/D off Light flashing?

I know that the O/D means over drive and since it's flashing, it's because there's something actually wrong with it. I'm a broke college student and this vehicle is all I have. I can't really afford a new vehicle. I have an appointment on Wednesday.

I was just wondering what could the problem be? How much will it cost me? And could it be something as simple as transmission fluid being low?

Somewhere between $20 and $6000. Beyond that, we know nothing without diagnostics, though if it's generally well-behaved despite the light, it's more likely an electrical problem than a problem with the slushbox itself.

If you did not check your fluid immediately, you need to sell the car and ride a bicycle.
