Why won't my car battery keep charge?
I have a 2005 Ford expedition. I bought a new battery about 3 weeks ago and now it won't keep charge. Lights work but are dim and it just makes a clicking sound when I try to start it. Also last battery had a lot of corrosion on it. Any idea what it could be? I can't get it to a mechanic because it won't turn on.
Well 2 things
1. Your alternator is not working, check belt and wiring
2. You have a short somewhere, it means that your car uses electricity when you actually are not. I mean you close your car everything no radio no lights but the electricity i being used.
As well it will be good to clean the buttery connectors and wires from corrosion and oxidation.
Check the charging system fuse. Replace it with a 15 amp instead of the stock 5 amp one. Check the alternator… It's good… I thought so.
Your new battery could have a bad cell in it or else your alternator is bad.
After I took the jumper cables off my battery meter went right back down to low. Taking it back tomorrow to get it checked. Alternator seems fine.
- Why won't my 2016 Ford Fusion charge my phone in the 12V port when the car isn't running? My old car could charge my phone without the car running in at least on of the outlets. Now in my new Ford Fusion now of the ports will let me charge my phone without the car running. Any way I can change a fuse to allow my car to use one of these ports without the car running?
- My Ford Focus from 2002,1.8tdci variant's alternator won't charge? The problem started today, when I was about to start the car up, it didn't start! I pushed it and the car finnaly started, It worked normally until I reached home, I manually charged the battery. Now it's starting up but it doesn't charge. The charging battery light is on. What can I do to fix it?
- My truck won't hold a charge A friend left my interior lights on in my 92 ford f150 and it died, and Ever since I jumped it and drove home, every time I try to start it nothing happens. I've jumped it and driven it around but still immediately after I turn off my car it dies again.
- New alternator and battery but battery still won't charge in my ford explorer 93? My battery wouldnt charge So i just replaced my alternator a few days ago knowing it would fix the problem. It appears that the alternator was not the problem. I've got a brand new alternor and when i check the battery(running car), it just stays on 12.5V and doesn't go up. I tried using it yesterday and it just drained out on me. I tried 3 good batteries already and checked if they charge in my car but they don't. Oh, the alternator came with a volt regulator.
