Yes it needs oil - RTFM as an 'expedition' was manufactured for many years with many different engines.
Hi the usual 20w-50 grade if it is a gasoline engine or 10w -30 w if it is a diesel engine.
It will be in owners handbook. Any ford dealer can advise and even many other motor factors and garages will have data showing correct oils as recommended by Ford to use. Low friction oils are typically 10w30. However different markets will use other variations so do check.
5W-20 is the specified oil for Expeditions with the 2 valve 4.6L, 2 valve 5.4L, and 3 valve 5.4L, although 5W-30 is fine to use as well. For the newer Ecoboost Expeditions the recommended oil is a semi-synthetic 5W-30.
