Our tint law does not differentiate between "SUVs and cars", but does make exceptions for certain windows on some specific vehicles like rear pick up truck windows, vehicles (including SUVs of course) that are hauling human remains, limo's, etc. So you may be mis-reading the tint law.

Without getting too deep, let me just say that there are good reasons for the exceptions, some are very obvious, some may not be so obvious.

Keep in mind that the law was written for officer safety… Period.

The legislature used their heads and came up with instances on certain vehicles that don't need to be tinted, and viola! We have a tint law. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to list every vehicle type and why it is different.
