2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer for First Car?

So I'm 18 and looking at this expedition for my first car? Should I get it or something smaller. I've always wanted a truck with a third row and an engine that sat up off the ground (flood prone area). And little cars and sedans make me nervous accident wise And the the price is very affordable for a very comfy truck. But I'm on the the short and skinny side and don't want to be made fun of. Also the gas and maintenance ( brakes) costs are a concern. What do you guys think?

Yikes! Those Expeditions are big time money pits.
Look at 2 wheel drive (RWD) Chevy Blazers or Jeep Grand Cherokees. They are smaller, get better gas mileage, and are cheaper & easier to work on, and high off the ground.

As long as you can afford to keep gas in it, they are good vehicles. I drive a 2008 myself. I get about 14 MPG in the city.

A smaller import would be a far better & cheaper option.

Honda, Toyota, Mazda or Hyundai… Maybe even Kia. Not BMW or VW or Mercedes.

Any 15 year old used vehicle is a big risk for expensive problems. Plus it's a gas guzzler. If you insist on this vehicle, have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic before you buy, so that you know exactly what you're dealing with, problem-wise.

Expedition is a poor choice for a first car. Especially a 15 year old vehicle.

Gas, insurance and repairs will all be higher than most other options.
