Is Ford Ford Escort mk1 1970 a good car?

Is it a good car to drive with traffic? Hows the handling and power?
cheers!

Lol - terrible compared to a new Mazda 6:)

they sit too high in their factory configuration

of course youll be doing some work on it if its original

brilliant little car - plenty of fun

put mine into a power pole twenty years ago doing 100km/hr plus through a round-a-bout

I would crawl through nettles to get hold of another 2-door in good condition

EDIT

the great thing about such a car is you can truly make it something amazing

and so much work you can do on it yourself

mine was the same colour - not quite as well kitted out

45 years ago, it was an OK but not outstanding small family car with a variety of engine and trim options.
What that car is like now depends on the maintenance and repairs done in the intervening years.

"Good Car"… Is difficult to define in a car that is 45 yrs old!
They were an extremely successful model in their day. Ford made and sold thousands of them, built with humble 1100cc right through to rally bred 2000cc 'fire breathing' performance cars, with huge worldwide rally successes.
Your biggest problem will be finding one that hasn't been eaten away with rust! If you can, 'any' '70's Escort will be an appreciating asset, but don't expect it to drive and handle like a 'modern' car.
