I own a ford escort and I was flatfoot shifting at high rpm's and it broke down
I tried to start it up after it backfired, made a really weird noise and then it just gave up. For a little bit, it would try to turn over, but didn't. My distributer cap was broken and falling off, so I replaced that, but now it won't even try to turn over. I turn the key and absolutely nothing happens! What could it be and how much to fix?

- What RPM should my car idle while driving and what RPM should I shift? I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6. 5 speed manual transmission. This is not the first manual car I've owned, but I'm curious. I never really look but I've read in some places that in order to save gas you should shift at 2 RPM before I used to shift at around 3-3.5 RPM. Also what's a good RPM my car should idle at while I'm in gear? Let's say I'm driving in 3rd gear. What's the ideal RPM to stay at before needing to shift.
- High Rpm for Ford Eacort 1997? We just noticed yesterday that my husband's rpm is higher than my car. It doesn't seem to drive any differently and there's no burning smell so I'm wondering what it could be. At 70 mph it's between 3.5-4 Rpm. I'm praying it's not the transmission but everything I'm reading says it may be. 190,324 miles
- 2004 Ford Focus, stick shift. When I take it out of gear at a stop light, into neutral, the RPM goes up to nearly 3,000 RPM. Why? When first starting the car, just leaving it neutral, the RPM stays around 2,000. IT only raises when driving, as described above
- Why dose battery light come on in high rpm from stop after 4rpm in first gear? 97 ford Taurus 3.0L. Battery light comes on when I accelerate from a stop to 5k rpm first gear 60mph ish. All light that are on get 2x brighter and after 30 sec all the lights go back to normal and battery light turns off after i stop accelerating and slow down to 40mph at 2-3 rpm. Why is that?
