Grinding Gears With Manual Transmission?
My car is a Ford Escort 1.8 L 1999 Turbo Diesel
My problem is when I shift from neutral to first or first to second I hear a grinding sound.Obviously this is not a good sign. The clutch is all the way on the floor when i shift, so I don't understand what causes that? Can anyone explain what's wrong with the gears and what should I do?
Could be that the clutch release mechanism is not operating fully
The synchromesh is shot. Exchange gearbox needed or trade it in.
Sounds like you need a mechanic to adjust the clutch, which is probably not disengaging sufficiently, ie. Due to something wrong with the cable or its adjustments.
- Gears in my manual transmission Ford Ranger are difficult to shift when the engine is running. Why is this? This usually happens in the morning or if I have not driven in a while usually when its cold out. Once the car gets warmed it gets easier.
- Ford Ranger manual transmission? I'm 5'7" and do you think I ll be able to reach the clutch fine? Because since it's a bench seat you can't move It up
- Why can't i change gears on my manual transmission car? I have a 2004 ford ranger 2.3 4 cylinder with manual transmission. I can turn it on but I'm not able to shift gears. Is it the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder or transmission?
- 1990 Ford Ranger manual transmission? I'm 5'7" and looking at a 1990 Ford Ranger. I have not yet seen it in person but since there are bench seats do you think I ll sit comfortable and reach the clutch fine etc?
