Car dies after being jumped?
I was driving across town last night and the lights inside the car ( gas gauge, speedometer, radio lights) got really dim. I came start home and pulled in the driveway and turned the car off. When I went to start it again it wouldn't start. The headlights and inside lights still worked but the radio reset itself. I waited until the next morning and got a jump. It's started right away I let it run for a few mins and when I went to put it in drive it died again. It's a 1996 ford escort lx. When I go to rev up the engine while it's park the RPM is not working. I put another battery in it and its still not working correctly. Could this be the alternator, battery, ignition coil. Any idea's? I'm a single mom with three kids so I'm hoping it's not an expensive fix.
Sounds like an alternator problem. The part is not that expensive, however it's a 1.5 hr to 2hr job.
Alternator needs to be replaced is what it sounds like to me. Take it to autozone and have them check it for free.
- Truck won't start after being warm? I have a 2007 Ford F450 truck that runs well, and starts up when it is cold. But after run it until its gets warmed up I turn it off and try re starting it and it refuses to start up again afterwards. Anyone know what the problem is? - 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 won't shift into drive after being driven. Takes longer than should to shift into drive when first started? It will go in reverse fine. First thing in the morning when I leave for work, it will shift into drive on it's own, but takes a bit longer than it should. After getting it warm, won't shift into drive at all. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd, then back into drive and it will "pop up" into drive within a second or 2. I also have a ODB2 error P1744 (Torque Converter circuit).
- 1996 mustang gt immediately dies? I'm looking to buy this gt 5speed but when we go to start it up it just dies. We can rev it a little but it won't idle. We disconnected the alternator thinking maybe a short but no luck. The original catetaker is nolonger around so we can't ask him. Does anyone else have this problem? If so help me out because i'm going to get this car for pretty cheap if it's a quick fix
