Look for vacuum leaks.
There's a hard plastic pipe that goes to the PCV valve, on the end of it there's a 90 degree rubber boot that fits over the PCV valve. That rubber boot is rotted out and leaking. I have probably replaced a hundred of these over the years. Ford only sells the whole pipe piece so I used to grab an angled silicone rubber boot off an old spark plug lead and use those, they last forever.
Go by any oldtime auto shop and ask if they have some old plug leads around to steal one from.
If the escort is a manual transmission suspect the hydraulic clutch system. Make sure the reserve tank is filled to the full mark and pump the clutch pedal a few times. That might fix the problem for a day or more.
- Wanting to install AC in old Ford truck, anyone already do this without spending thousands of dollars? 1967 Ford F100, has a "newer" Ford engine, not the original. Truck never had AC, the kits with compressor are really expensive. I'm curious about alternative AC additions anyone might have experience with… Thanks!
- My radio won't stop scanning, doesn't stop on any station, why? It's a stock 93 Ford Taurus radio, only am fm and cassette, cassettes work but I don't want to use. How can I get my radio to work again? My antennae was loose but I tightened it but it still won't work!
- My 2000 Ford Taurus won't shift from neutral to reverse or neutral to park? Its curently in neutral but the steering colum shifter will go down to drive or drive 2 and will go back to neutral, but then it stops so I can't back up or park the car.since it doesn't go into park, I can't even take the keys out of the ignition. Any ideas?
- 99 Ford ranger XLT base model. Park lights, dash lights, and license plates lights out I checked online and realized it was probably a fuse which it is. Fuse 11 in my power distribution box. The problem is I keep replacing at and soon as I turn on my lights it blows instantly. Have replaced it multiple times. So then I looked under my truck and disconnected the wiring to my taillights and replaced the fuse, it worked it didn't blow. Dash lights and license plates lights were on so I figured some where there's a problem with the brake lights. Any suggestions?
