What size socket do I need to remove a brake caliper bracket on a 2007 Ford Escape? - 1
Er… The one that fits?
Try a socket.
If it is too small, try the next one up. And so on. If it is too big, use the next one down. Make sure that the "play" (i.e. The movement) of the socket on the head of the nut is as small as possible because using a socket slightly too large could strip the nut and lead to expensive repair bills.
Sorry, we don't have the ford escape in my country so I can't be specific
If you don't have a socket set, then you need one
If you don't even own a set of sockets you are not a good prospect for doing a brake job correctly jojo.
The one that fits. You shouldn't be doing a brake job by yourself.
Y would you waste the time and money to fix junk?
You tube is wonderful, because you will have more questions on the job:
The actual bolt (bracket to the knuckle) is a 15 or 17 mm I think.
- Socket size to remove starter? I have a 2004 Ford ranger 2 wheel drive with a 3.0 6 cylinder. I was able to get the 2 mounting bolts on the bottom with a 13 mm. However the socket set I have only goes to 14 mm. What size do I need to have to get the last bolt located on top near the solenoid?
- How to undo bolts on Ford Galaxy 2003 Front & Rear brake caliper to renew disc's and pads? I need to renew the disc's and pads at the front and rear of Ford Galaxy 2003. I have the correct sockets and a large extension bar, but they will not budge (front or rear). I have tried WD40, thinking of trying a little heat, but its a bit near to the brake hoses. All suggestions gratefully received. I have a full workshop manual on this car issued by Ford which just says that they are tightened to 190Nm. The front bolts are huge 27mm and the rear bolts are 18mm.
- Need to know what type of transmission I need for my 2007 ford Fusion S Automatic 2.3L vin 3FAHP06Z07R246616? I need to replace the transmission due to 3rd gear went out but not sure what transmission I need. Was told that it might cost $3000 to repair. Any input will be appreciated.
- Why is a brake caliper job so expensive? Ford Focus front right hand wheel brake sticking when driving caused noise and some vibration at certain speeds. Tyre place Stapeltons took it apart after the wheel didn't spin freely and said there was corrosion in there, calipers need replacing with brake fluid change. He said both front wheels would have to be done and said 575 quid straight away. They can whistle for that… Sounded like a rip-off artist. I'm trying my local family run garage instead.
