What is the small metal cross or x looking part under the cruise control for a 2007 ford escape hybrid?

I was using my escape and i accidently knocked the cruise control button off, and a metal x or cross fell out and i was gonna put it on and my sister threw the metal away. Its the metal part that gets pushed down when you turn on and set cruise control under the button. I'm looking for a replacement but i have no idea how to find it.

That is the return spring that returns the button after it is pushed. It is probably not available as a separate part. You will need to buy the whole switch.

Sometimes you can find that stuff on e-bay.

Besides grinding all around brakes were fine. Now noise is close to negligible. Replacing Front pads/rotors tomorrow. A must to bleed now? Air in system? Caliper?
  • I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Sedan that has a screeching metal on metal sound when switching gears to reverse? And the sound is there the entire time you are backing up. Does this sound like a transmission issue? Also hearing a rubbing noise in the steering, and it is a little tight, any idea what that could be? Also heater blows, but not real strong and no heat comes out… Does that sound like a difficult and expensive fix? And could the heater or any of the above issues cause my engine light to light up solid continuously? The car runs pretty good aside from these issues.
  • Estimated cost to install cruise control? I just recently bought a 2000 Ford taurus and it does not have cruise control. I would really like to have it. I do know that I would have to get the steering wheel that has the buttons but what else do I need and how much is it going to cost me
